Thomas Louis Hicks, a former resident of Perry, Fl. age 84 passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 in Savannah, Ga. Mr. Hicks was born on December 20, 1924 to the late Thomas Louie Hicks Sr., and Jessie Celesta Malone Hicks in Lake City, Fl. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corp in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Marine Corp Letter of Commendation for his participation in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Florida, and retired from the National Cash Register Company after many years of employment. He was a past member of the Perry Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church and was preceded on death by his wife of 55 years, Ethel (Burns) Hicks and wife of 7 years Marilyn (Bevan) Willis Hicks. Survivors include his son Tommy Hicks of Savannah, Ga, daughter Cindy Simmons, son in law Greg Simmons and granddaughter Jessica Simmons of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, granddaughter Brittany of Sturgis, South Dakota, three step-sons, Randy, Butch and Danny Willis. sister in law Dot Burns of Perry, Florida, six step- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 7, at 10:00 am in the Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel, Perry, Florida. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens.
