Maher, Thomas C.Thomas C. Maher, 54, of Danbury, formerly of New Fairfield, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Bethel Health Care.Thomas was born on July 19, 1962 in Danbury, CT, the son of Frederick and Mary (Gentles) Maher. He attended New Fairfield Schools and was a graduate of Linfield College.Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1986. He was also a dedicated Volunteer Firefighter in Canby, OR during the years he lived there and was recognized as Volunteer Firefighter of the Year in 1993. He was employed by Skyline Financial Services and Fred Meyer, Inc., as a programming and analysis specialist.Thomas was predeceased by his father Frederick and three brothers; Frederick, James and Michael and his step-father William F. Ottoshavett.He is survived by his mother Mary Maher Ottoshavett, as well as his daughters Rachel of Oakland, CA and Sarah of Beaverton, OR. Thomas is also survived by his brother Anthony and his wife Renate of Danbury. His sisters; Cindy McDonough and her husband Dave of Danbury and Theresa Maher of Rocky Hill. In addition to his mother, daughters, brother and sisters, Thomas is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to acknowledge and thank Sandra, The Danbury Nurses Registry and employees Kevin, Donna, Claudio, Melissa and Rebecca. Western CT Home Care and employees Gary, Jason, Quinn, Sarah, Michele and Elaine. The wonderful staff members from Regional Hospice who helped care for Tom since June and most recently the staff at Bethel Health Care.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church; 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield. Friends will be received on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Regional Hospice and Homecare; 30 Milestone Road – Danbury, CT 06810.
