Thomas P. Kormis passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2016, at Country Meadows in Mechanicsburg.
He was born on June 2, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, and was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, class of 1951.
Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Mount Olympus. After his service, he worked as a welder at Sterling Engineering. He was a longtime resident of Nanticoke, where he attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He enjoyed playing cards and traveling with his wife, Veronica. Tom was an avid fisherman and volunteered stocking trout for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Helen Kormis; his brother, Steve; and his loving wife of 54 years, Veronica.
Tom is presently survived by his son, David Kormis and wife, Chris Kormis, Springfield, Va.; daughter, Dr. Karen Kormis and husband, Dr. Michael DeMichele, Mechanicsburg; three grand-daughters, Anna Kormis, Erin Kormis and Sara DeMichele; and his brother, Robert Kormis and wife, Gretje Kormis.
A viewing will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Road, Enola PA 17025. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Slovak Cemetery, Nanticoke.
