Thomas PronAsheville - Thomas Theodore (Solomon) Pron passed away suddenly on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mission Memorial Hospital (Memorial Campus), Asheville, NC. He was the son of the late Clyde Thomas Solomon and Helen Vera (Fritz) (Solomon) Pron. He was born on October 16, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA.He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Boward Pron; his daughters, Amy Elizabeth (Nick) Pron-D'Alleva from Asheville and Amanda Jean (Brandon) Larson from Brooklyn, NY; a grandson, Elijah Thomas Pron D'Alleva; his sister, Frances (Louis) Raggi from Glenside, PA; cousins, Linda (Bruce) Wrigley from Maple Shade, NJ and Arthur Davis of Philadelphia, PA and many wonderful nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Philly and Norton.From March 1962 to March 1966 Tom was enlisted in the
United States Air Force. For a short period of time he worked for Link Belt Corporation. By 1971, Tom decided that he wanted a career in the medical profession. He attended Albert Einstein Medical Center where he received his Registered Nurse Degree. After that, he continued his studies at Temple University and later went to school at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia where he pursued his degree in Anesthesiology. After his years of schooling he worked as an Anesthetist at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia, PA; Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia, PA; St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, PA and Mission Memorial Hospital (ASC) in Asheville until his retirement in 2012. As his daughter stated, "The world lost a bit of its light. Tom was a spirited, passionate, funny, knowledgeable and immensely family-loving person". He was a loyal Philadelphia Sports fan his entire life, and loved a spirited debate on any topic. His love of technology and learning new things kept him young. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Tom's name to the Asheville Humane Society or to an animal shelter of your choice. Tom so loved animals, especially his beloved kindred spirit, Norton.
