Vincent, ThomasTom took his final breath November 23, 2016. He was born on September 15, 1941 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Leland and Irene (Tilly) Vincent. He grew up on a farm with his brothers and sisters near New London and then attended Washington High School in New London, Wisconsin from 1956 to 1960. Upon graduation, Tom enlisted in the
U.S. Air Force where he served as a jet aircraft technician until he was honorably discharged in June of 1964. After working as an industrial electrician for more than 40 years at Metso Minerals Inc. in Appleton, Tom retired in 2004. This allowed him to enjoy more time with his longtime and close friend, Ken Edges as well as with other friends and family. He enjoyed learning, and continuing his education, he acquired several degrees and certificates as well as his pilot's license. His favorite activities were reading, especially about science and nature, enjoying long discussions over lunch with his brothers and sisters at local restaurants, taking walks and working in his yard. He was a Mensa member for many years.He is survived by two brothers: Robert (Nancy) Vincent, Neenah and William (Violet) Vincent, Kimberly; four sisters: Jean Vincent, Neenah, Mary (Willie) Fields, New London, Irene Champeau, Neenah and Elaine (Tom) Meyer, Hilbert; sister in law Ellie Vincent. Tom is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his longtime friend, Ken Edges, oldest brother, John Vincent, Appleton, sister in law, Josie Vincent, Wauwatosa and infant brother Michael.A memorial service for Tom will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Nicolet Memorial Park, Green Bay.Tom's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at UW Hospital in Madison as well as the VA Hospital in Madison for all the wonderful care given to Tom.A tree will be planted in Tom's memory on the banks of the Little Wolf River near where he grew up.
