Thomas W. SmithBLOOMVILLE: Thomas W. Smith, 80, of Bloomville, passed away at 8:12 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at the St. Francis Nursing Home in Tiffin. Tom was born on March 1, 1936, in Seneca County, to the late Charles Ward and Sylvia Xoa (Tennpenny) Smith. He married Judith M. Hanna and they later divorced, he then married Theresa Smith and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2002.Survivors include four children, Pamela Jane Dunn of Springfield, Willis Charles Smith of Mt. Vernon, Mark Allen Smith of Tiffin, and Christina Lynn King of Oak Harbor, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and a sister, Elizabeth Ducote of Canada. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Steve William Smith, a brother, Denny Smith, and two sisters, Agnes Eudora Woodward, and Maxine Black.Tom was a 1955 graduate of McCutchenville High School. He owned Uncle Tom's Restaurant in Fremont and later worked maintenance for the Budd Company in Carey, where he retired. Tom loved to ride his motorcycle and spending time at his place on Turtle Lake. He also enjoyed hunting and eating at Jolly's Drive In. Funeral services for Tom will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Pastor Terry Burkhardt officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow services on Tuesday at St. Jacob's Cemetery in Republic.
