Thomas John "Tiny" Wright, 73, of Shell Rock, died on March 1, 2017, at the Rehab Center of Allison.Tom was born on April 4, 1943, in Dubuque, the son of Arnold and Kathryn Lucille (Beland) Wright. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Shirley Gobin on July 23, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Tom started working at John Deere in Waterloo in 1963 and retired on Dec. 1, 1998, after 35 years.He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing and woodworking. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley Wright, of Shell Rock; a son, Matthew Wright (special friend, Melanie Peterson), of Johnston; a daughter, Catherine Asplund (special friend, Brian Pruin), of Clarksville; a son, Michael (Angie) Wright, of Waverly; six grandchildren, Victoria, Jacob, Zachary, Meghan, Robert and Brynn; and a brother, Jim (Alice) Wright, of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Beth Wright.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with the Rev. David Schatz officiating. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and also for one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
