Timothy John Nixon, 51, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Aug. 11, 2016, at Lovelace Women's Hospital in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Nixon. He is survived by his mother, Marlene Nixon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two adopted sons, Gilbert Maes and companion, Jaymee Trujillo, and Julian Gonzales and companion, Stephanie Martinez, of Mora; four brothers, David (Trish) Nixon of Colorado Springs, Colo., James Nixon of Wichita, Kan., Keith (Lou) Nixon of Phoenix, and Wendell (Shirley) Nixon of Centennial, Colo.; one sister, Krista Nixon of Golden, Colo.; two grandchildren, Anthony Maes of Las Vegas, and Tonya Gonzales of Trinidad, Colo.; and by six cousins.He was born on Dec. 9, 1962, to Doug and Marlene (Peterson) Nixon in Wichita, Kan. He has lived in Billings, Mont. and Colorado Springs, Colo. Tim graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. and was active with the Boy Scouts of America, having earned his Eagle Scout rank. Tim received his BS degree from the University of Southern Colorado, Pueblo, and his master's degree in social work from New Mexico Highlands University. He remained in Las Vegas working for the State of New Mexico as a senior social worker with the Children, Youth, and Family Department. He enjoyed working on his computer and playing with his grandson. He also enjoyed soccer and for a time coached youth soccer teams. A service celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Heart of David Church, 333 Peggy Lane. Memorials in Tim's name may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Pikes Peak Council, 985 W. Fillmore St., Colorado Springs, Colo. or a charity of the giver's choice.
