HAYES - Mr. Timothy (Tim) Wallace Gordon passed away suddenly November 9, 2016 in Hayes, Virginia. Tim was born on November 28th, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcy R. Gordon and parents, Andrew and Martha Gordon. He is survived by his sons, Andy Gordon and his wife, Bethany and Jay Paul Gordon and his wife, Jessica; his sister, Peggy Gordon; his brother, Jim Gordon; and several nieces and nephews. Tim graduated from Donaldson High School in Nashville, TN, and Arizona State University (Temple) with a Bachelor of Science degree. During his college days, he worked at A.J. Bayless of Phoenix, then the largest grocery firm in Arizona. He worked part-time during the school year and full-time during breaks and vacations. He was offered a management position in December, 1973, but turned it down in hopes of being able to put his hard schoolwork to better use. Tim was a member of the Alpha-Gamma Rho Fraternity and a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts. In July1973, Tim married Marcy R. Norby, and they remained happily married nearly 40 years, until her passing in 2012. They worshipped together for many years as members at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Bena. Tim was first a USDA fresh fruit and produce inspector from 1975 to 1978. In 1978, he went into business for himself, leading Gordon's Complete Lawn & Home Maintenance from 1982 to 1987. The family moved to New Jersey when Tim was employed by the USDA in Philadelphia. In 1989, Tim and his family moved to Hayes, Virginia. Tim served the USDA faithfully and well for over 25 years, and earned several merit awards during his tenure there. A loving husband, father, and brother; a faithful friend, a believer in Christ, and a hard worker, Tim will be missed by many. Memorial service officiated by Pastor Joe Shepherd will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private. Family and friends may share condolences and memories at
