Rev. Toby M. Maritch RACINE Toby M. Maritch, 58, passed away unexpectedly at WFH All Saints on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Toby was born on Aug. 27, 1955, and grew up in Racine, the son of Steven and Donna Maritch. Upon finishing high school, he proudly served in the
U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1977 on the USS Niagara Falls as a Boiler Technician, and used those skills as a maintenance mechanic in the years following. On June 30, 1979, he married Connie Miller-Flack. Toby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a heart for children. He and his wife nurtured and cared for many children out of their home, eventually becoming foster parents. Toby ministered for 20 years in varying capacities with the North Central District Pentecostal Church of God, including jail ministry, hospital chaplain, and most recently, as the Assistant Pastor at Gospel Lighthouse of Racine. Toby also volunteered as a leader for his youngest son's Cub Scout troop, and with the State of Wisconsin Public Schools Parent Advisory Committee. In addition to his passion for his church and his family, Toby loved singing and playing his guitar. His love for the outdoors, fishing and camping led to his serving for years on the Wisconsin Dell's Christian Campground Board. He is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Timothy (Kazumi) Flack of Okinawa, Japan; Scott (Kim) Flack of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Michael (Alex) Maritch of Kenosha; Maggie (James) Sewell of Racine; and Charlie Maritch also of Racine; his grandchildren, Leah, Nina, Emma, Emily, Tristan, Tyler, Lily, Randy, Wilson, Gavin, Mason, Mia, Christian and Riley; his father, Steven Maritch of Racine; his sister, Tracy (Rich) Simpson of Racine; brother, Todd Maritch of Arkansas; his mother- in-law, Margaret Miller of Pennsylvania; as well as many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, foster children, and friends. Toby was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Maritch; his father-in-law, Keith Miller, and his beloved grandparents. A service honoring and celebrating Toby's life will be held at Soul's Harbor Church (2400 63rd St., Kenosha, WI) at 11 am on July 12, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
