Tommy Gray Livengood,65, of Culpeper, Virginia died Thursday, January 25, 2024. Tommy was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on July 6, 1958.
He joined the US Navy in 1976 and proudly served aboard the Ballistic Missile Submarines: USS Henry Clay, USS George Bancroft, USS Nathan Hale and the USS Simon Bolivar until his retirement in 1996.
Tommy was a man who enthusiastically loved; be it his family, his friends, singing and writing music, racing cars, playing pool, his cats and his Corgi, Gizmo. He always had a word of advice or a joke at the ready. Tommy was happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was generous, caring and never met a stranger. Tommy made friends everywhere he went and was adored by so many.
He spent so much of his life at various race tracks up and down the east coast but had a special place in his heart for Bowman Gray Stadium. He attended countless races there with his family and friends but especially with his loving sister, Brenda.
Tommy was a proud sports dad. He loved telling tales of his days spent at hockey rinks with his son, Andy and daughter, Becky.
Tommy was also a creature of habit. Every Friday afternoon, you could find him at Glory Days and then he was off to Pepper’s entertaining anyone in earshot of him. Every Saturday, Tommy would venture over to Sumerduck to play pool with his best buddy, Dean, and all his neighborhood friends.
Tommy is survived by his long-term partner and forever love: Linda Estes; his children: Andrew Livengood (Ashley), Rebecca Resendes (John) and Shane Estes (Sarah); his grandchildren: Joseph, Rachel, Harrison and Adelyn “Addy”; his sister: Brenda Thermos (Tom); his furbaby: Gizmo; and countless nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents: Barney Gray Livengood and Bonnie Jean Cook.
