Tommy WallaceABILENE, TXTommy Wallace, 87, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center. The son of Verna (Pratt) and Elton Wallace, he was born on July 2, 1930, in Wills Point, Texas. After completing high school, he attended banking school at LSU. In 1961, Tommy married Joyce Nell Wright in Lubbock, Texas. Tommy was a bank examiner prior to his career of over 60 years as a bank executive. He was president of both Citizens State Bank in Slaton, Texas and Plains National Bank in Lubbock, and executive vice president of First National Bank in Killeen, Texas. He moved from Harker Heights, Texas to Abilene four years ago. Tommy was a deacon at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, an elder at Southside Church of Christ in Killeen, and currently a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene.Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Wallace. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wallace of Abilene; son, Sam Wallace and wife Sharla of Abilene; granddaughter, Tea Wallace; and two step-granddaughters, Sara McCullough and Katie McGavock; daughter, Shannon Maxfeldt and husband Mark of San Antonio; grandchildren, Makenzi Maxfeldt, Caleb Clardy and Olivia Clardy; daughter, Sheli Wallace Black of Abilene; and grandsons, Patrick Black and Travis Black; Sheryl Wallace of Abilene; and granddaughters, Audrey Evans and Kate Evans; as well as three great-grandchildren, Keaton Clardy, Eva Tyler and Johnna Tyler; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, September 1, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Saturday, September 2, at Oldham Lane Church of Christ with John Knox and Chris McCurley officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
