Tony Derel Layton went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at the age of 77. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Greenwood-Arlington Chapel. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood-Arlington Chapel. Memorials: Donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse. He was born on Jan. 19, 1939, to Barnest and Charolette Layton who preceded him in death. He married his wife of 57 years, Eugenia Gaylon Jones, on Aug. 14, 1959. He was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Derel Layton; and five brothers and one sister. We would like to express a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Davita Dialysis Center as well as our appreciation for all of the help during this difficult time from niece Sheryl and her husband, Stephen Fischbach and loving sister, Connie. Survivors: His wife, Gaylon Layton; daughters, LeAnn Carroll and husband, Arvel, Vicki Pitman, and Tammy Harkrider and husband, Wes; sister, Connie Stewart; seven grandchildren, Brittany Davis, Matt Messer, Megan Pitman, Chance Pitman, Hunter Harkrider, Nicole Carroll and Rachel Carroll as well as one great-grandchild, Jayci DeFreece.
