Torao Nakagawa1926 ~ 2016West Jordan-Torao "Lou" Nakagawa passed away peacefully on November 24, 2016 at the VA Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on March 29, 1926 in National City, California to Sukichi Nakagawa and Matsue Kokehara. Lou married Merry Atagi on December 5, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He farmed in West Jordan for many years and also drove a school bus for the Jordan School District. He loved making trips to Wendover, meeting his coffee buddies at Smith's, going out to eat at Koyo, watching the Utah Jazz and spending time with his family. Even with his recent health challenges, he retained his love of life. We will miss his hearty laugh and his infectious smile. He is survived by his wife, Merry, daughters, Gail (Mark) Minaga and Nancy (Brian) Kobata, nephew Ralph Nakaishi, grandchildren Matthew Minaga, Anne & Kevin Kobata. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Kiyoko Nakaishi and brother Isao "Chingus" Nakagawa.Funeral service will be on Friday, December 9 at 5 pm at the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple, 211 West 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held from 4-5 pm prior to the service.The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the VA Hospital for their compassionate care of Dad.
