Travis L. HarrellBossier City - On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, Travis Harrell went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Travis lived a full and healthy life up until the last several months. Travis was born on May 2, 1930 to James Wright and Mary Ray Harrell in Monroe, Texas, a small suburb of Longview. His parents and brother, James Ray Harrell preceded him in death.Travis is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Alice Ruth Harrell, his sons; Ronald and wife Bonnie Harrell, Clayton and wife Lisa Harrell, Larry and wife Heidi Harrell, and David and wife Cindy Harrell, his grandchildren; Clayton Jr and wife Joni Harrell, Ashley Harrell, Whitney Harrell, Meagan Harrell Utmelidze and husband Tommy, Austin Harrell, and Ty Harrell; and three great-grandchildren.Travis was employed by Dowell from July 1, 1950, until January 31, 1983 when he retired at the young age of 52 as a sales manager. Upon retirement Travis and Ruth enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with their family. Travis loved to play golf and enjoyed exercising at the gym. One of his favorite past times was playing dominos with a group of men from his church. Travis was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church for the past 32 years, where he was always willing to teach his Sunday school class when needed. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton on Thursday, November 2nd, from 5 until 7 pm. A memorial service celebrating Travis' life will be held on Friday, November 3rd at Airline Baptist Church. Rev. Harrell Shelton will officiate the service, assisted by Pastor Terry Young. Burial will be held immediately following the service in Elderville, Texas. Honoring Travis as pallbearers will be; Jimmy Harrell, Stanley Spence, Clayton Harrell Jr., Austin Harrell, Ty Harrell, and Bill Nichols.Memorial Contributions may be made to the Airline Baptist Church Building Fund, 4007 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.
