Turner, Troy L. 85, of Wichita, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in Wichita. Troy was born on April 17, 1931 in Squires, MO, the son of Roy and Agnes (Gaines) Turner. Troy spent early years in Lead Hill, AR. Troy and Betty Turner were united in marriage on July 11, 1953 in Augusta, KS. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Troy worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then later worked in the aircraft industry. Troy retired after 35 years from Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Building Maintenance. Early in life Troy performed as an auctioneer. Troy had a passion for maintaining and restoration of older trucks. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Turner; sisters, Billie Young and Barbara Ivy. Survivors include his loving son, Randy Turner of Wichita; brother-in-law, Alonzo Young; nephew, Charles Young, both of Yakima, WA; niece, Frankie Glidewell. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016; Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday July 23, 2016, both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Cherokee Nation Foundation (helping Cherokee students reach their full academic potential), 800 S. Muskogee Ave., Tahlequah, OK 74464.
