Trudie Lay (de Haas), 85, passed away November 5, 2017 in Longmont, CO. Trudie was born on December 20, 1931 in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and her family moved to Holland after the end of World War II. In 1954 Trudie and her first husband (Thijs de Haas) immigrated to Canada and subsequently to Rochester, New York where they and their children became US Citizens in 1965. Trudie and Thijs were married for 30 years and lived from 1966 until 1978 in Pine Brook Hills in Boulder. From 1970 until 2002 she was deeply involved in the Pine Brook Water District and for many years was the district manager there. Trudie married Darrell Lay on the 6th of September 1986 and they moved to Longmont in approximately 2002. She was preceded in death by Darrell on the 9th of September 2017. They are survived by the children Alle de Haas (Karin), Robert de Haas (Kathy), Steven de Haas (Kelly), Kim Lenort (Allen) and Eric Lay, and also 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. For most of her life Trudie enjoyed travelling, the mountains, gambling, being active in the community and meeting and talking with other people.
