Tyrone Purdy, son of the late Arnold Thomas Purdy and Betty Jean Parker, was born on March 23, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN. He was blessed to have two loving fathers—his biological father, Arnold Purdy; and the Dad who raised and imparted much wisdom into him, Charles Allen.
James was educated in the Public School North Babylon school district.
His love for poetry and race car driving were the hallmarks of his career. He enjoyed careers in both industries. Tyrone was a member of a poet society, whose successes included the release of the poem entitled, “Free Your Mind”. He also worked for various race car drivers and eventually was blessed to own his own store for a season. Tyrone remained active in both fields in some capacity until his health failed.
Better known as “Purdy” by his family and many of his friends, James was a fun-loving, out-going, out-spoken, witty person. He loved to travel and explore new surroundings. He was the very proud father of three daughters and so. whom he adored.
Tyrone was passionate about his walk with God. His first question to anyone who told him of someone who passed away was, “Did they know the Lord?” He would also say that he was jealous because they were home with Jesus but he couldn’t go until he had completed his life assignment. He was a proud member of U-Connect Church where he always enjoyed the Word and the fellowship.
