Ulrich (Uli) TorresAugust 25, 1951 - April 09, 2017Grover Beach, CAUlrich (Uli) Torres, 65, passed away on April 9, 2017 in San Luis Obispo due to complications from surgery. He was born on August 25, 1951 in Heilbronn, Germany. Uli came to the United States with his parents Carlos and Helga Torres in 1956. He grew up in Tulare, California and graduated from Tulare Western High School in 1969 where he wrestled, ran cross country, and played baseball. After high school he studied at College of the Sequoias where he earned his associate of arts degree. As a young man, his working career began in the fields at Tagus Ranch. He later worked for The Edison Company, Alpha Beta Grocery Store, and The Gas Company. He began his real estate career in the early nineties working in various offices. However, it was Uli's dream to own his own business. Uli obtained his broker's license and opened Sea Wave Real Estate in Pismo Beach, California in 2000 and later added Pismo Property Management. He enjoyed meeting people and appreciated having past clients drop in for visits at the office. Uli appreciated the many lasting relationships that he developed with clients who became his friends.Uli married Rita Pires on September 9, 1972 in Tipton, California. The couple moved to Lancaster, California a month after they were married. Uli and Rita returned to Tulare in 1975 where they raised their family until 1996 when they moved to Grover Beach, California. They loved spending time together traveling to visit their children and grandchildren, going on coastal walks, or just heading out for dinner and a movie. They were happily married for 44 years. Uli valued working hard, spending time with family, and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved the friendships that he made with members of the Moose and Elks lodges and always managed to find a view of the ocean.Uli was preceded in death by his father, Carlos H. Torres. He is survived by his wife Rita Torres of Grover Beach, California; His mother Helga Torres of Tulare, California; His daughter Kristy Pellett and her husband, Brad, of Atlantic, Iowa; His son Brent Torres and his wife, MaryAnn, of Castro Valley, California; His daughter Ashley Kritz and her husband, Tyler, of Arroyo Grande, California; His grandchildren Connor, Caroline and Claire Pellett; Isabella, Charlize and Savannah Torres; Olive and Fern Kritz; and many other extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande, California on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
