Ulysses Murphy, Sr., was born on November 5, 1942 in Valdosta, Georgia to parents of the late Louise Barnes & Louis Murphy, Jr. Ulysses Murphy died April 10, 2009 at Shands University Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Preceded in death by his son, Frank Murphy, Grandmother Beulah King, Grandfather Louis Murphy, Sr., and Great Grand Nevaeh Murphy. He was married to Mrs. Betty Foster Murphy. Unto them five children were born. Survivors: Martha Byrd (Harold Chatmon), Annie Pearl Murphy, Gainesville, Florida, Gladys Garrett (George) Folsom, Louisiana. Jessie Murphy, Sr (Brenda Perry), Ulysses Murphy, Jr. Also left to cherish his memories, two sons: Terry Wilson (Mamie) Lake City, Florida and Nick Tobe Walker. Grandchildren: Michael Byrd, Jessie Murphy, Jr., Aaron Murphy, Geona Garrett, Robert Murphy, Kim Garrett and Monica Murphy. Great Grandchildren: Aireona Murphy, Ivyonna Murphy, Jacob Byrd, Meshia Byrd, Terry Wilson, Sr., Shawn Wilson, Lisa Wilson and Kayla Wilson. Sister: Geraldine Curinton (Ervin), Nephew, Clifford Hughes, Niece Anna Johnson. Special friends: Randy Williams, Larry Johnson, Mae Helen Hodges, Marissa Cooper, Lake City, Fla. A host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service for Ulysses Murphy, Sr., will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at The Community Revival Center. Elder Clyde Douglass, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Rest Cemetery.
