Vada D. ShufordCanton - Canton - Vada Davis Shuford, 94, went to be with her Heavenly Father, on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.Vada was a daughter of Johnnie Silas and Della Bradley Davis. She was born on April 18, 1923 in McDowell County. She was a lifelong resident of Cruso community and known for her card ministry to all in the community who had any life experience that she deemed a cause for a card. She was very much a people person. Vada was also known for her great homemade yeast rolls and wonderful cooking. She was a charter member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Elden, who died in 2014; six siblings; and a granddaughter, Rachel Shuford Williams.She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Randall and Vernell of Asheville, David and Rita of Fletcher, Riley and Sandy of Asheville, Rita and Russell Wheeler of Cruso, and Leslie and Sarah of Clyde; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren; two other special daughters, Naomi Henderson and Vickie Allen; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.The family would like to express their appreciation to all the Silver Bluff care givers who ministered to our mother for over three years. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dale Whitson officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery.
