Valentina HarveyMount Laurel, NJ1924 - 2017Valentina Harvey, age 92, died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on March 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 26, 1924, in Manchuria, China. She grew up in Shanghai, China, and briefly lived in England before becoming a proud citizen of the United States of America. She made her home in Redding in 1954, where she lived for over 50 years. She worked at Citizens Utilities Company of California from 1955 until her retirement in 1988. She was very active in Toast Mistress International. She loved gardening and spending time on Shasta Lake with her family. In 1978, she established a missionary church, Surety of Sinners Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, on her property due to the need for a parish in the Northstate. She devoted her life to the church and selflessly helped anyone in need. Her greatest joy was to cook for and attend to the needs of others. As her health began to decline, she moved to NJ to be with her daughter, where she lived out the remainder of her life. She was active in the sisterhood of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ, for many years. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harvey; her son, Priest Philip Blyth; her sister, Nina Sellers; and her brother, Vadim Kozachenko. She is survived by her daughter, Alexandra Preis, son-in-law, Dr. Keith V. Preis, daughter-in-law, Paula Blyth; granddaughters Svetlana and Lubov Preis, Juliana Porter, Christina Poer; great-grandchildren Alexus and Alyssa Porter, Zachary and Zoe Poer; and nephews, Jerry and Ed Sellers, and Paul and Dan Kozachenko. Her funeral was held on March 13, 2017, at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, New Jersey.
