Vance Gordon LindHyde Park - Vance Gordon Lind, Emeritus Professor of physics and astronomy at Utah State University, passed away in his Hyde Park home on Jan. 9, 2014. He was born on Feb. 12, 1935 in Brigham City, Utah. His father Vance Otto Lind, mother Vida Hansen Lind, son Irin Scott Lind, and daughter Marielle Christine Lind preceded him in death.Gordon was a cheerful, friendly individual with a positive outlook on life. He loved the Savior, life, and people and tried to be an influence for good with as many as he could. He will mostly be remembered for being kind, gentle, thoughtful, and loving. He had a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and showed this through is actions.He served an LDS mission in Switzerland and held many church callings such as serving in the bishopric and as a high counselor.He was a professor of physics and astronomy at Utah State University for 35 years including serving as Physics Department Head for 8 years. He married Linda Sue Wilson in the Logan Utah LDS Temple, Dec. 18, 1964.He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Wilson Lind, 11 children (Bretton Lind, Mark Lind, Kimara Lind, Justin Lind, Cherise Lind Stauffer, Zachary Lind, Rixa Lind Leikis, Vanessa Lind, Marilyse Lind Horton, Lisette Lind, and Tyson Lind), as well as 29 grandchildren.The family would appreciate receiving your written memories of Gordon. A viewing will be held Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Hall Mortuary, located at 34 E. Center St. in Logan and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m at the Hyde Park church house. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery in River Heights following the funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
