1920 ~ 2008 SANDY – Vearl Christensen Draper Hunter, 87, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Sandy, Utah. She was born on Nov. 21, 1920, in Monticello, Utah, and raised in Provo. Vearl was the oldest child of Dennis and Lela Black Christensen. She was a big sister to 10 siblings. Vearl married Ralph Draper on March 28, 1936, in Provo, Utah. They were later divorced. They were blessed with three children, Carol, Jean and Dennis. She married Shirley Zee Hunter on Sept. 9, 1946; later divorced. They were blessed with one son, Ted. Vearl spent many years in Logan, Utah. She worked for the Logan School District in the lunch program. She later moved to Murray and worked for the Jordan School District lunch program. Vearl's life was not always easy. Her family and faith gave her the strength to meet life's challenges. We will remember her sense of humor, strong work ethic and determination. She rarely failed to sign a birthday card without a "Love Yah." Her family will fondly remember her wonderful homemade pies and "lunch lady" chili. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a visiting teacher and visiting teacher supervisor. She attended Logan 3rd Ward and the Murray Ward. Vearl is survived by daughters, Carol (Kirk) Waldron and Jean (Joe) Ritchie; sons, Dennis (MG) Draper and Ted (Judy) Hunter; 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and sisters, LaVern Sidwell, Stella Eskelson, Faye Cassingham and Doreen Hiatt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; great-grandson, Connor Cassidy; daughter-in-law, Carrie Draper; sisters, Eva Kiggins and Norma Fassett; and brothers, Lee Christensen and Bud Hutchings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 East in Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery.
