Velma Ruth Fitzgerald1943 - 2015Velma Ruth Fitzgerald, 72 passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on Thursday, June 18, 2015. She was born on January 10, 1943 to Manley 'Bill' and Edith Ruhl in Pratt, Kansas. She was raised in Kansas and lived in various states in the west and mid-west before permanently moving to Idaho.Velma loved animals, particularly strays. Over the years she adopted dogs, parakeets, rabbits, ferrets and cats. She worked in the service industry most of her life. Velma is survived by her husband, Stan Fitzgerald, two sons, Dorman (Lori) Griffith of Meridian, ID and John (Kari) Gustin of Nampa, ID, two step-daughters, Annette Fitzgerald and Christy Griffith of Tucson, AZ, a sister, Ellen (Pat) Buhler of Pinson, AL and a brother, Billy Ruhl of Meridian, ID, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Billy Joe Gustin, her grandson, Shawn Griffith and her sister, Wanda Pettit. A visitation will be held at Cloverdale Funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 22nd. A graveside service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23rd where she will be buried next to her son.A special thank you to the staff at XL Hospice and Home Instead for providing loving and compassionate care.
