VERA IRENE BROWN, 94 FREEPORT - Vera Irene Brown, 94, of Freeport passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Presence St. Joseph Center. She was born on Feb. 18, 1919, in White Rock Township, Ogle Co., Illinois, a daughter of Ben H. and Annie H. (Ennenga) Hillers. Vera married William Vincent Brown on Feb. 23, 1949, in Rockford. Vera was a farm wife and a tax preparer. She was active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the church choir, the Marion Society, the Senior Center, tutoring and served as an election judge. Surviving are her children, James Eugene (Connie) Brown of Carlisle, OH., Paul Vincent Brown of Dakota, and Teresa Marie (Mike) Vowel of Freeport; her granddaughter, Christina Louise (Gary) Sindt of Garner, IA.; her great-grandchildren, Jacen Christopher Sindt, Ahren David Sindt, and Kayden Allen Sindt; her sister, Henrietta Day of Rockford; her brother, Christopher "Leslie" (Phyllis) Hillers of Stillman Valley; her sister-in-law, Vernice "Gussie" Hillers of Warrens, MI.; a close family member, Mary Lamm of Freeport; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband on March 18, 1995; her daughter, Betty Ann Pellerin on June 22, 2006; her sisters, Tena Brass-Mowers and Jennie Snodgrass; her brothers, John Henry Hillers, Henry Hillers and Herman Hillers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Robert Camacho officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd., and after 12:30 pm. on Monday at the church until the time of service.
