Vera Ruth (Lignitz) Spatigage 89, of Morristown, formerly of Oaklandon, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She was born on February 12, 1927 in Haddam, Kansas as the daughter of John R. and Nellie I. (Idlet) Lignitz.  She married Johney I. Spatig on July 17, 1944.Vera worked in the food service department at Lawrence Township Schools for 12 years.  She was the vice president of Spatig Heating and Cooling Inc. for 40 years. Vera is survived by her daughters, Bonita (Frank) Peterson of Oaklandon and Debbie (Frank) Denton of New Palestine; foster daughter, Sally Reed of Oaklandon; grandchildren, David, Tina, Pam and Chrissy; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.  Vera was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Lignitz; husband, Johney Spatig; 2 sisters; 4 brothers; and one grandson.Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. 600 W., Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 11:30 a.m. also at the church.  Pastor Dave Galbraith will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Oaklandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the , 50 E. 91st St. #100, Indianapolis, IN 46240, or envelopes will be available at the church.  Friends may share a memory or a condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
