Vern J. Hansen passed away peacefully on Jan. 13, 2014. He was born on Aug. 26, 1923, in Logan, Utah, to Joseph and Daisy Currell Hansen. He was raised on the farm in Elwood, Utah, resided in Nevada and Washington, and retired to Utah. Vern attended Bear River High where he graduated in 1941. In 1943 he served in the Army Air Corp in WWII.Vern worked as a rancher in Clover Valley, Nev., and owned and operated his own motel in Yakima, Wash.He Married Ethel Ralph on June 23, 1951, in Nevada. Ethel passed away on Oct. 23, 1985. When Vern moved back to Utah, he found his old girlfriend, Ann Palmer Rucker, and married her in the Jordan River LDS Temple on July 12, 1986.Vern was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he faithfully served in many callings. Vern enjoyed the time he spent serving in the Temple.He enjoyed going on rides, taking pictures of the wildlife and golfing.Vern is survived by his siblings, Joyce (Howard) Stokes, Dale (Sylvia) Hansen, Darwin Hansen, and Bonnie (Ross) Rudd.Vern was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel, and his second wife, Ann Palmer Rucker. Services for Vern will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 100 E. 111 North Tremonton, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery with military honors.
