Verna D. Zander, age 85, of 3406 Maplewood Road, Two Rivers, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Hamilton Care Center, Two Rivers.She was born on August 16, 1927 on the family farm in Newton, daughter of the late Walter & Emma (Erdmann) Stock. Verna attended White Trail School until the 8th grade. On May 28, 1955 she married Ned T. Zander at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Newton. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2011. Verna was a homemaker and for 20 plus years she babysat for several families who have always had a special place in her heart. She was a member of the Farm Bureau where she met her husband. Verna was also a member of Grace Congregational UCC Church in Two Rivers since 1961 and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a deaconate for 6 years and served on the church board, a member of Modernistic Homemaker Club and Town of Two Rivers Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Verna enjoyed gardening, writing poems and collecting angels for many years.Survivors include two daughters: Laura Hayes-Stoeger, Maribel; JoAnn Zander, Sheboygan Falls; a son: Karl Zander, Arlington, VA; three grandchildren: Hunter Hayes, Berkeley, CA; Emily Rose Stoeger, Maribel; Tana (John) Spevacek, Two Rivers; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Jeanette (Kenneth) Junk, Manitowoc; Lorraine (Ray) Thone, New Holstein; Darlene (Fred) Schnell, Newton; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Roger (Qualine) Stock, Florida; Clifford (Arlene) Stock, Manitowoc; Willard Stock, Virginia; and four sisters-in-law: Marion Stock, Pearl Stock, Marcy Stock and Grace Stock. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Kip Hayes; five brothers and a sister-in-law: Norman, Milton, Leroy & Ilene, Garfield, Roland Stock; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Joyce & Earl Mandel and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Paul & Eleanor Zander.Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor James Barnes with burial at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.The family will greet relatives and friends at The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012.
