ALBION — Vernie Blevins Jr., 77, of Albion, died on Friday Sept 4, 2015, at his home. He was born on May 15, 1938, in War, WV, to the late Vernie Sr. and Beatrice (Delph) Blevins. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Silgan Plastics after 38 years of services. On July 18, 1968, in Albion, he married Wanda Parsons. Mr. Blevins enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved to play guitar, and spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Blevins; son, Troy (Wendy) Blevins of Wolf Lake; daughter, Tina Smith of Albion; and a brother, Tom Blevins of Bedford, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren Chelsea, Chase, Austin, Kelly and Josh. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ernest, Benny and Lundy, and five sisters, Ruby, Delores, Catherine, Mildred and Ethel. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 9, 2015, at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Chris Stephens officiating. Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials to C.A.R.E.S.
