Vernon Fletcher, age 72, a resident of Houma died as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday August 30, 2016.He is survived by his wife Othella (Pat) Fletcher, of Houma; his children, Kevin P. Fletcher and his wife Bonnie of San Antonio, Texas; Cindy H. Chaumont and husband Randy of Ragley, Louisiana and Kelly Paul Fletcher of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one grandson, Jake Ryan Chaumont of Youngsville, Louisiana; and one great granddaughter, Cora Jane Chaumont of Youngsville, Louisiana. Three sisters: Syble Adair of Houma Louisiana, Silva Boyte of Houma Louisiana and Ester Wleczyk of Rosenberg Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Stuart and siblings, Vernell Bayless, Dale Ballard, Effie Middlebrooks, Bobby Jo Davis and Hillburn Davis; as well as countless extended family.Vernon was born on March 2, 1944 in Bastrop, Louisiana. Vernon was a great family man and a loving father. He married Othella (Pat) Ford in 1975 and the couple had two children Vernon was a social, active man who loved to fish and ride his motorcycle. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, loving, genuine family man that would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it.Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 2, from 6PM until 8PM and Saturday, September 3 at 9AM until service time at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 3, at 11 AM with a burial to follow at Garden of Memories cemetery in Gray.
