Vernon J. Kohlbeck Jr., age 65, of 3503 S. 19th Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, September 28, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.He was born on November 2, 1945 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Richard and Violet (Porubcansky) Reynolds. Vern was a graduate of Mishicot High School, class of 1963 and then attended the University of Wisconsin - Manitowoc. He was a Veteran of the
United States Marine Corp. serving in the
Vietnam War. On November 5, 1983 he married the former Georgia A. Mahloch - Blanchard in Cleveland. Vern was employed with Tecumseh Products of New Holstein from 1972 until his illness in 2000, retiring in October of 2001.Survivors include his wife: Georgia Kohlbeck; a step daughter and step son-in-law: Kim & Dean Lynch; a step son and step daughter-in-law: Mark & Lisa Blanchard; all of Manitowoc; step grandchildren: Sabrina & Derek Blanchard; a brother and sister-in-law: Dennis & Jacqui Kohlbeck, Charlevoix, Michigan; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Jerome J. Mahloch, Manitowoc, Jerald & Kay Mahloch, Cato, John & Jeanette Mahloch, Manitowoc, Jeff & Lila Mahloch, Tucson, Arizona; and four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Gen & Joe Dyzbalyz, St. Nazianz, Karen & Dave Carstens, Manitowoc, Mary Mahloch, Summit, Mississippi and Bonnie Mahloch, Newton. Step nieces, step nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister: Jean Kohlbeck; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Carol & Robert Voss; a brother-in-law: Joe Mahloch and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: John & Anna Mahloch. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be Deacon Paul Kieffer with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731. The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011. Friends may also call Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Vern enjoyed traveling and has traveled all 50 states and many European Countries, making many friends along the way. Vern also enjoyed gardening and took pride in it, and was sad to have to give it up due to his illness. He looked forward to playing cards with family and friends and also enjoyed his trips to the Casino and Las Vegas. The family would like to thank the following for their care and compassion for Vern: Dr. Lynn Baatz and staff of the Cancer Care Center at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Gentile and his staff of the Cardiac Center at Holy Family, Dr. Palubiak and the doctors and staff of St. Vincent ICUHe will be sadly missed by family and friends.
