She was born on February 14, 1932 in Riceville, TN to Pearl and Annabelle Swafford.She worked for Diamond International for 17 years until she retired. Vesta married Victor Diaz in 1963 in Murphy, NC. They were happily married for 54 years.Vesta enjoyed playing, writing and singing songs. She had some of her songs recorded in studios. Vesta along with 2 of her sisters even sang for the radio station WLRA in Tennessee. She loved to go out and dance with her husband and friends. She had such a love for Elvis Presley. She was a good judge of character, she loved and protected her family, they were her pride and joy.Vesta is survived by her husband Victor Diaz, of Exeter, CA; her sons Shawn Diaz of Visalia, CA, Frankie Diaz (Lindsay Gruber) of Elderwood. Two sisters, Bobbie and Shirley of Tennessee. Grandchildren; Kira, Karissa & Kasira Diaz of Visalia, Ca. and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.Vesta was preceded in death by her parents Pearl & Annabelle Swafford, brother Fred, sisters Bertha, Thelma, Gerdy and Elsie.A Graveside Funeral service will be held at Exeter District Cemetery at 10:00am on January 19, 2017. A Visitation will be held at Smith Family Chapel, Exeter CA from 4-7pm January 18, 2017. The family will be greeting friends and relatives.Arrangements provided by Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.
