Vicki Towler Foreman was born March 28th, 1951, in Dallas, Texas to Walter Warren and Elretta Sandel Towler. She died March 10, 2023 after several years of battling lung cancer. Vicki is survived by her daughter Ashley and husband Steven Marks, grandchildren Madison, Mason and Colton; son Zachary Straughan, grandsons Sean and Luke; stepson Nathan and wife Julie Foreman, granddaughter Elizabeth; stepdaughter Christina and husband CJ Tomlinson, granddaughters Cora and Cassidy; sister Carolyn Towler McDonald; brother Gary Towler and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet and her beloved husband Jerry Thomas Foreman.
Her family was always her life. Vicki claimed riches in the form of faith, family and friends. She loved dearly her friends from every part of her life old or new they all mattered to Vicki.
Vicki taught English at Dallas Christian School from 1981-1986, then attended graduate school receiving a Masters in Social Work from UT Arlington. Her social work career spanned 1992 to her death. She loved her students and her clients. Grief became her specialty, inspired by the early death of her sister Janet and her family’s subsequent grief journey.
The family is asking instead of flower donations for anyone to bring or send in a picture or written memory to add to Vicki’s memory board. We want to celebrate all aspects of Vicki’s life so thank you for contributing your shared memories.

I just found out about darlin’ Vicki’s passing. In 2007 I attended her group grief therapy meeting in Fort Worth. I didn’t think I needed it, but she was a Godsend and helped me navigate the first painful year after my husband’s passing in 2007. During Vicki’s weekly sessions, the other original participant, Nell, she and I became friends. After a year and we were sort of on an even keel, we continued to meet for supper as friends. Vicki was more than a port in a storm that first year. Nell and I both felt so blessed to reap the benefits of her beautiful heart and expertise. After a year, Nell and I were functioning better and continued to meet occasionally at Nell’s house for supper.
I treasure her sweet text messages and the laughs and tears we shared. Vicki was a very special woman and I have been so blessed to have known and loved her. It seemed she lifted everyone who ever came in her sphere.

I am so sorry for her family's loss; I have just learned of her passing. I was privileged and blessed to have Mrs. Foreman (we knew her as Ms. Straughan) as my English teacher and home room teacher at Dallas Christian High School in the 80s. She was a fantastic and caring teacher, and beyond that, fun, creative, and supportive. I deeply enjoyed learning from her; she genuinely made learning fun. When I graduated, I asked her to sign my yearbook, which she of course did. I still remember what she wrote, because I have thought about it many times in my life, and it is as true and important as it was then: "Choose your love and love your choice. Meaning, the most important choice you can make in life is with whom you choose to live it." Very strong and smart advice, which I reflect on to this day, and have quoted to many friends and my own daughter. I will always remember and appreciate her. She is sorely missed.

My forever friend, I will always miss you. I, also, will always hold in my heart your laughter, your counsel, your wisdom, your insight and your love for your family and friends. I reach for my phone to text or call you more than I want to say.
I will always remember our days of standing on the bed singing gospel songs, sitting next to each other at GHS graduation, passing TnT notes in the GISD hallways for years, driving to NTSU (aka UNT), our trips to the Gulf and, of course, North to Durant and Thackerville, planning HS reunions with the different groups, trips to Houston and solving all the world’s known problems while laughing and crying.
Please give a hug to your sweetheart, Jerry, from me and my family, too, every time you see them. Life here is not and will never be the same without you. I love you and look forward to seeing you when God calls me.
