*Funeral Announcement

We regret to announce that Don Manubia's funeral will be held today, June 29th.

Mass will be celebrated at San Dionisio Church at 3:00 PM, and burial will follow later at the New Cemetery.

We appreciate your presence at this farewell.

The last member of our neighborhood has passed away.

With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Víctor Peña, affectionately known as Don Manubia, a true icon of our beloved Higüey.

Don Manubia was not only a tireless worker, known for his successful cocoa, corn, and produce business on the iconic corner of Avenida Libertad and Úrsula Morel. He was also a human figure, a beloved figure, a familiar face who represented the very essence of our neighborhood: dignity, hard work, humility, and perseverance.

Today we mourn his passing, but at the same time we thank God for the privilege of having shared our lives with him. His legacy will live on in our memories, in the streets he walked, and in every heart he touched.

To my dear friends, who are more than friends, true brothers and sisters: Leonte, Lidia, Amado, Andrés, Víctor, Carmen, Mayra, Enrique, as well as his grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and sons-in-law, I ask the Almighty Jehovah to grant them the comfort and strength necessary to endure this painful moment. May the love that Don Manubia instilled in them always be a beacon in their lives.

Rest in peace, Don Manubia. Your name and your example will be engraved in the living history of our neighborhood.

His wake will be held at the Ávila Funeral Home. The burial will be on Sunday, June 29.

Lamentamos anunciar que el funeral de Don Manubia se llevará a cabo hoy, 29 de junio.

La misa se celebrará en la Iglesia de San Dionisio a las 15:00 h, y posteriormente el entierro será trasladado al Cementerio Nuevo.

Agradecemos su presencia en esta despedida.

El último muro de nuestro barrio ha fallecido.

Con profundo pesar, despedimos a Víctor Peña, conocido cariñosamente como Don Manubia, un verdadero ícono de nuestro querido Higüey.

Don Manubia no solo fue un trabajador incansable, conocido por su exitoso negocio de cacao, maíz y productos agrícolas en la icónica esquina de Avenida Libertad y Úrsula Morel. También fue una figura humana, una figura querida, un rostro familiar que representó la esencia misma de nuestro barrio: dignidad, trabajo duro, humildad y perseverancia.

Hoy lamentamos su partida, pero al mismo tiempo agradecemos a Dios por el privilegio de haber compartido nuestras vidas con él. Su legado vivirá en nuestra memoria, en las calles que recorrió y en cada corazón que tocó.

A mis queridos amigos, que son más que amigos, verdaderos hermanos y hermanas: Leonte, Lidia, Amado, Andrés, Víctor, Carmen, Mayra, Enrique, así como a sus nietos, nueras y yernos, pido al Todopoderoso Jehová que les conceda el consuelo y la fuerza necesarios para sobrellevar este doloroso momento. Que el amor que Don Manubia les inculcó sea siempre un faro en sus vidas.

Descanse en paz, Don Manubia. Su nombre y su ejemplo quedarán grabados en la historia viva de nuestro barrio.
