Victor Roland BarfussFebruary 24, 1923 - May 15, 2015Victor Roland Barfuss, 92, passed away on May 15, 2015, at his daughter's home in Boise, Idaho. Vic was born on February 24, 1923, in Paris, Bear Lake County, Idaho, the son of Andrew and Louise (Stocker) Barfuss.Vic is survived by his wife, Mary Baird Barfuss; and six of his seven children - son, Robert (LeeAnna) Barfuss; daughters, LaDawn Christenson, April (Scott) Monson, and Dree (Todd) Rasmussen; sons, Scott (Diane) Barfuss and David (Deanna) Barfuss; and his daughter-in-law Natalie Barfuss. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, two of Vic's brothers, Joseph (Sally) Barfuss and Raymond (Ruby) Barfuss, and many nieces and nephews. Vic was predeceased by his son, Brock Barfuss; his son-in-law, Robert Christenson; and his grandson, Ross Barfuss.Vic graduated from Fielding High School in 1942. He then joined the Marines and served his country during World War II. Upon returning home after the war, he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California North Mission from 1948-1950.After his mission, Vic became an Idaho state policeman. Prior to retiring, he was Superintendent with the rank of Colonel over all the state policemen in the state of Idaho.Vic married Mary Baird on July 17, 1951, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Vic was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings which included being a Bishop twice. He and Mary served several missions together as a couple - one to the Philippines Davao Mission, one to the Portland Oregon Mission, and one as CES missionaries in Pocatello, Idaho.Any who knew Vic knew that he was a hard-working, self-disciplined, very patriotic man who always did the very best at whatever he worked at. He loved his family, and always gave the credit to his wife, Mary, for raising their children. We are grateful for the life of this good man, and the example he set for everyone within his sphere of influence.The family would like to thank Colleen and Patti at St. Luke's Hospice for their tender care of Vic during his time with them.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the LDS Chapel located at 8620 Goddard Rd., Boise. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00-12:45 p.m. at the church. Family will also greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, Vic's family would love for you to make a donation to the National MS Society (P.O.
