Victor W. HarrisAfter a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer, retired Wilmington Police Department Master Corporal Victor W. Harris passed away September 8, 2017.Victor was born on March 18, 1951 to Evelyn and Lorenzo Harris in Wilmington, DE. He died at home with his wife and best friend of 41 years, Linda Hunter, and his children, Sherilyn, Travis, and Alyssa Hunter-Harris by his side. Victor is also survived by his granddaughter and light of his life, Trinity Hunter-Harris; his brother, Lewis Martin Sr.; his sisters, Sevella Jones and Teresa Harris; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Vic graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School in 1969, and joined the Wilmington Police Department in 1974. He retired after 38 years of honorable service. Vic was well respected by his fellow officers and was a mentor to many. A memorial service will be held to honor Vic's life and police service on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Schoenberg Memorial Chapel, 519 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809 with visitation at 12:00 noon and service at 1:00 pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
