Victoria L. Demers, 18SUTTON - Victoria L. Demers of Sutton sadly passed away after injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Victoria was 18 years old. Victoria was born on July 6, 1998 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the oldest of two children to Norman H. and Lisa M. (Marino) Demers, Jr. She attended Whitinsville Christian School for her elementary education and played AAU Basketball through middle and high school years. Victoria was a member of Sutton High Schools graduating Class of 2016. While at Sutton, Victoria not only excelled academically but was a proud member and played guard all four years of high school for the Girls' Basketball Team. During her senior year, she was ranked #4 in the Dual Valley Conference, named Conference Player of the Year, a First Team All-Star, was selected to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette Super Team and a Second Team All-Star. Victoria and her team were 2016 Dual Valley Champions and one of the most prominent awards Victoria received her senior year was Most Valuable Player. Following graduation, Victoria began studying psychology at Rhode Island College. She accepted a position on the schools Women's Basketball Team and as a freshman she started as a forward. Before leaving for college, Victoria worked an internship at Big Brothers Big Sisters. She enjoyed art as a hobby, being with her family and just being a normal teenager. Besides her parents, Victoria is survived by her brother, William Demers; five aunts, Elizabeth Cerrone and her husband James of Lawton, OK, Anita M. Gaffney and her husband Richard, Jr. of Paxton, Michelle Hipsky of Willington, CT, Sandra LaVoie and her husband David and Cheryl Gantt and her husband Kenneth all of Uxbridge; many cousins, friends, teammates and coaches. Victoria is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Michael and Ann L. (Adams) Marino; her paternal grandparents, Norman and Lillian A. (Lamontagne) Demers, Sr.; an uncle, Harold Hipsky and her cousin, CPT. Michael A. Cerrone.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Victoria's family and say goodbye to her on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville (please go directly to church). Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St., Worcester.
