Vidal Martinez OrtizApril 28, 1932 - April 7, 2014Vidal M. Ortiz, beloved husband and father died on April 7, 2014 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Dad was born on April 28, 1932 in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Juan Ortiz (+) and Isabel Martinez de Ortiz (+). Dad was raised in Matamoros Tamaulipas where he worked as a leather craftsman. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Elida Leos Lopez on May 28, 1963. Together they moved to the state of Idaho eventually settling in the Caldwell area in 1984. Dad worked at JR Simplot for 25 years until he retired in 2004. Upon his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild and tending to his yard. He also enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. He is survived by his loving wife, Elida and children Juana Ortiz-Reyna (Gerardo), Dora Ortiz, Maria Ortiz-Lopez (Joaquin), Vidal (Eve) Ortiz, Victor (Phadra) Ortiz, Armando (Isabel) Ortiz, Victoria Ortiz, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Jorge (Elvira) and Lazaro (Magdalena) Ortiz and sisters Eduarda (Silvino) Reyes, Susana (Ramiro (+) Guevara and Lidia (Sergio) Vasquez, and many nieces and nephews. Dad is preceded in death by his two sons, his parents and sister, Maria Gonzalez. A viewing will be held on Thursday April 10, 2014 from 5-8 PM with Rosary Recital at 7 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Mass will be celebrated Friday April 11, 2014 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden, Caldwell. Te queremos mucho Papi.
