Vikki Lee Peterson Vitali, 61, died after a short battle with cancer at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, on Aug. 24, 2014. Vikki was born on May 8, 1953, in Logan Utah, The only daughter and oldest of four children born to Jay C. and JoAnn Zollinger Peterson. Vikki grew up in Cache Valley until shortly after graduating from Sky View High in 1971 when she moved to Salt Lake City. She started a career as a medical language specialist where she rose to the top of her field.Vikki was passionate about music. She was not only an accomplished pianist, but also played the oboe, guitar and drums as well as possessing a wonderful singing voice. She was a member of both the marching band and orchestra at Sky View High. Even though she lived in Salt Lake for most of her life, her heart always remained in Cache Valley.She grew up the older sister of three much younger, miscreant brothers who constantly tried her patience. She remained tolerant and loving despite their errant behavior, and they continued to remain close from those bonds forged earlier in life. She married Lucio Vitali on Oct. 16, 1975, in Providence, Utah. They were later blessed with the birth of their daughter Sharla, July 27, 1976. She appreciated the beauty of art and the eloquence of science equally. She was an avid reader of all genres and lover of animals. She was a compassionate, loving woman who will truly be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 39 years Lucio Vitali, her daughter Sharla of West Jordan, Her brothers Edward (Loriann) Peterson of Garland, Jonathan (Gloria) Peterson of Providence, and Mark (Joanne) Peterson of Hyrum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay C. and JoAnn Peterson of Providence Utah.Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, in the Providence City Cemetery.
