Dr. Vincent KilleenAGE: 65 • LewesVincent Bernard Killeen, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., 65 years old of Lewes, Delaware, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1952 in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of the late Vincent Michael Killeen and Virginia Crowley Killeen.Dr. Killeen was a graduate of Worcester Academy and Denison University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. After college he moved to Washington, D.C. and attended Georgetown University School of Medicine. There he completed his residency training and received the Hugh H. Hussey Resident Award for teaching and mentorship. After graduation he and his wife, Debra, moved to Lewes, Delaware. He founded the private practice, Bayside Health Association, in 1988 and acted as the president and C.E.O. until his passing. During his 35 years in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he pioneered minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Beebe Medical Center. Working with the dedicated Bayside Health Association team brought Dr. Killeen great joy and honor.Dr. Killeen was enthusiastic about education. He was on the teaching staff at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and was a residency program coordinator for Christiana Hospital. Over his career, he served on the board of numerous medical associations and other professional groups. He spoke on many national platforms related to women's health issues and has had several articles published in national clinical magazines.Dr. Killeen loved the beach, music, sports, history and above all his family. He was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather who deeply loved his community. Dr. Killeen is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Debra Munjas Killeen; three daughters and two granddaughters: daughter, Ryan Killeen Weatherly and her husband Lee of Charleston, South Carolina and their children Virginia and Margaret; daughter, Brennan Killeen Lynch and her husband Francis of Washington, D.C., and daughter, Peyton Ann Killeen and fiancé Christopher Walling of Washington, D.C.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958. Friends may visit between 5:00pm and 8:00pm on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. Burial will be held privately.
