Vincent Lafferty1948-2014Providence - Vincent Joseph Lafferty, 66, died peacefully on Aug. 12, 2014, in his home in Providence, Utah. Beloved husband of Vickie Lafferty; loving father of Jack (Stephanie) Lafferty; dear stepfather to Doug (Liz) Larson, Adam Larson, Kathleen Larson, Jeffery Larson, Kevin Kearnes, Roger Kearnes, Cindy Anderton; fun-loving grandfather to Victoria, Brooklyn, and Max, and great-grandfather to Zoey Ferry Lafferty; charming and supportive brother, uncle, in-law and friend. Vincent was born on June 8, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of six children of John Vincent and Nora Anne Mullins Lafferty. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern State University in Talequah, OK, Vince completed his Master's Degree at the University of Tulsa. With a passion for history and a commitment to teaching, Vince moved his young family from Oklahoma to Utah to begin a 37-year career with Utah State University (USU). Vince worked for many years with the USU Regional Campuses and Distance Learning Program before becoming the director in 1985. Vincent retired from USU in 2012 after a rewarding career of public service to the University, where he touched the lives of students and colleagues and developed lifelong friendships. An avid golfer his entire life, Vince was a proud member and the president of the Logan Country Club where he enjoyed playing, competing, laughing and telling stories of previous golfing adventures. In addition to his parents, Vince is predeceased by brothers, John V. Lafferty Jr., and Reverend David M. Lafferty. In addition to his wife and children, Vince is survived by brothers Paul S. Lafferty (Wylene) of Henderson, Nevada, and Dennis Lafferty of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Joan M. Lafferty (Jane) of St. Louis, Missouri; extended family Heather, Shane, Zoyee, and Ike Thomas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and great-nieces.Visitation with family and friends of the deceased will be held at the Logan Country Club, 710 N. 1500 East, Logan, Utah, from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18. The funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Logan Country Club, with interment following at Logan Cemetery, 1000 N. 1200 East in Logan. The family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to Doctors Jeffery Bennion, James Blotter and Richard Stevens and Prim Rose Hospice for their compassionate care and concern for Vince.
