This obituary is administered by:
Vincent J. Miller, Jr.ARMONK - Beloved father, son, brother and husband, Vincent Joseph Murphy, Jr. (Vinny), 53, of Armonk, New York, died on December 16, 2016 with his family gathered around him. A son of Vincent Joseph and Rosemarie Kepuraitis Murphy of Poughkeepsie, NY, he was born on April 20, 1963 in Heidelberg, Germany. He was a 1981 graduate of Franklin Roosevelt High School and later Dutchess Community College, where he graduated with an Associate's Degree in Engineering. He enjoyed a varied professional life, starting out as an Assistant Building Inspector for the City of Poughkeepsie Zoning Department, as a site inspector during the expansion of the East Fishkill IBM expansion project, later working on his professional development to become a mortgage loan officer before ultimately opening his own business as President of Northern Home Funding, formerly in White Plains, NY. As a young man, he enjoyed a shared love of sports including football, deer bow hunting and ice, freshwater and deep sea fishing with his father, uncles and cousins. He was a Varsity pitcher for FDR during his high school years, earning MIP as a young pitcher as well as a Varsity football player. This love of football later translated into local regional coaching in his twenties at Mahopac and John Jay High Schools. He was a person of varied interests including a talent for illustration and WWII model airplane building and replication. He also had an interest and love of animals and farming as a young man. He enjoyed teaching his children and nieces about animals and developing an interest in science and how things work. He was remembered as an avid deer hunter who recorded many hunting and fishing trips to Canada, once appearing on ESPN holding a record size Arctic Grayling from Wolf Lake in Yukon. He also competed in various sport fishing tournaments in the Northeast region and was very proud to have placed second in one, in an area that he loved -Montauk. His favorite author was Ernest Hemingway and he loved similar pursuits as his idol, being particularly proud to have caught and released a Marlin while vacationing in the Turks and Caicos with his family one year. In addition to youth coaching, loving sports and nature, one of his favorite customs was a love of cooking, in particular for his family. Yet out of all of the things he loved, his biggest passion was for his children for whom he loved deeply. He loved following his son Vincent Jr in his excellence in sports, work, and future plans as well as being very proud of his daughter Nicole's recent college graduation and career path. He cared deeply for his wife, son and daughter who miss him every day. His kind and generous soul will be missed deeply by his devoted parents and sister. He is survived by his wife Loronda, daughter Nicole and son Vincent Robert, sister Marlo, brother-in-law Eric and nieces Hannah and Ava. Vinny was preceded in death by grandparents Tom and Mary D'Arcy Murphy, Tony and Jean DeMarco Kepuraitis , his cousin Mark A. Connors , aunts and uncles, Barbara and Ed Murphy, Tom and Jane Murphy, former fishing buddy and uncle- Cliff Richards and his loving Lab " Wiggles."
