This obituary is administered by:
Viola Ethel DyckWe sadly announce that Viola Dyck passed away peacefully on August 23, 2017 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon with her family by her side. Viola was born on March 5, 1929 in Saskatoon, and grew up with her parents, John and Susanna Schmidt, on a farm close to Hepburn, Sask. She attended Hepburn High School and graduated as valedictorian. She married Jake Dyck on October 8, 1949 and together they have 3 children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Susanna Schmidt and all of her siblings. Mourning her death is her loving husband Jake, her children: Cheryl (Charles) Gammel, Karen (Dennis) Streilein, and Brian (Carol) Dyck and their families. Vi was a great homemaker, wife, and mother to not only her own family and also to other children in need. George Kupchyk was an "adopted" son for several years. Mom dearly loved George and maintained the relationship with him over the years. Vi gave her time willingly and cheerfully to everyone she encountered. Vi loved music and was a beautiful piano and organ accompanist, and she enjoyed knitting, reading and gardening. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Acadia McKague's Funeral Center in Saskatoon.
