VIOLA ROSE APPLETON Viola passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was predeceased by her son Michael (1976); her brother Cletus Weiman (2010); her brother-in-law Cliff Scholsser (2011); her mother Josephine Weiman (1978); and her father Andrew Weiman (1936). Viola is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Douglas Miller Appleton; her daughters Kim, Denise, Lois and Jean; her sister Mary Schlosser; her sister-in-law Margaret Weiman; her grandchildren Samantha (James), Ashley (Tyler) and Michael (Karli); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mum's greatest achievement was her family and circle of friends and she treasured every minute she spent with them. Mum was born on December 13, 1933 on a farm in the Bruno Humboldt area. She was raised in Bruno and graduated from the Ursuline Academy. Mum's immediate family was small and she was very close to her Mum and her two siblings, Mary and Clete. She was also a member of two large extended families, the Roettgers and Weimans. Following high school she worked briefly in Rosetown and then moved to Saskatoon where she met the love of her life Doug. They were married on September 22, 1956 in Saskatoon. Viola was Mum to five children all born between 1957 and 1961. She managed family finances and ran a successful household for her busy family. Mum was a patient XYL and rarely made a fuss when Dad spent hours 'hamming' it up in the basement or brought home a new radio or electronic gizmo. She was very talented with her hands and she was accomplished at sewing, knitting, crochet and even tried quilling and stained glass. Mum had an active mind; she loved reading, games and puzzles, and often displayed a keen competitive spirit. She loved to socialise and she and Dad had many close friends and some of the best neighbours in Regina. She was blessed with the acquaintance of several close girlfriends that enriched her life with companionship and conversation over games of bunco, whist, rummoli and bowling for five decades. bfPrayers will be held at Holy Child R.C.
