Violet Esther Young WoodrumCAMBRIDGE: Violet Esther Young Woodrum, 89, was called home to be with the Lord at 1:44 p.m. on Friday, August 1st 2014 at Meridian Assisted Living. She was born on March 21st 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Chester Young and Esther Scott Young. She married Cecil Evan Woodrum on August 20, 1943. Violet attended Friendship Baptist Church. She known by her loved ones and all who knew her for her devotion to Christ, her love for family, and her passion for cooking.Violet was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Cecil; her son, Kent Woodrum; and an infant child. Violet is survived by her daughters, Kandice (Terry) Simmons and Beth (Vince) Durant; six grandchildren: Scott Shumate, Trevor Woodrum, Erin Shumate Short, Kayt Durant, Seth Durant and Ellie Woodrum; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Ruth Young Grimm, of Cape Coral Florida, Marian Young Bowen, of Temperance, Michigan, Elva Young, of Toledo, Ohio, Chester (Skip) Young, of Washington DC. and Walter (Bud) Young, of Moore Haven, Florida; as well as a host of other family and friends.Calling hours will be at Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (formerly the Mock Miller Funeral), Monday, August 4th from 6-8pm and August 5th from 10-11am. Services will be held on Tuesday the 5th of August at 11am. Pastor Ken Blood will be officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery following services.
