Virginia OdomVirginia Alma Odom, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., formerly of Granite City, Ill., born on May 11, 1928 in Poteau, Okla., passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill. She had worked for the Lutheran Synod in St. Louis, Missouri as a bookkeeper for many years. Virginia enjoyed painting, needlepoint and making crafts. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family. Virginia loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Cleveland Nevels and Ellie, nee Kirkpatrick, Nevels; husband, Albert Howard Odom, the love of her life, whom she married on June 11, 1945, in Worden, Ill., and who passed away on May 16, 2015; one son, Rodney Odom; one granddaughter, Michelle Odom and by two sisters, Hazel and Aline.Virginia is survived by her loving children, Connie (Danny) Murphy of Collinsville, IL, Randy Odom, Richard (Sharon) Odom and Debra (Mark) Becherer all of Granite City, IL; dear siblings, Thelma, Jean, Nina, Glenda, Bill and Bud; proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
