Virginia Ann Baseggio, 85, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017 in Sterling, Colorado. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 27th with Vigil and Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Virginia was born on December 11, 1931 in Howard South Dakota to Everist and Matilda (Schmitz) Neises. She graduated from St. Agatha high school in 1951 Howard, SD. She also attended St. Vincent Hospital Radiology and graduated in 1954. She worked in Sioux City, Iowa as an X ray tech and then moved to Sterling, CO in 1954. She worked at St.Benedicts Hospital from 1954-1957. She has been a member of St. Anthony's parish since her arrival to Sterling in 1954. She was the President of the St. Anthony's Altar Rosary society for many years. She also was the chairman of the Annual St. Anthony's Spaghetti dinner for 21 years. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She married Vincent Baseggio in 1955 at St. Agatha Church in Howard, SD. They made their home and raised their five children on the family farm in Atwood. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Vincent Baseggio; 5 children, son Timothy Baseggio and wife Victoria of Sterling CO, grandchildren Kelsi and Jason Murray, Kyle and Mandi Baseggio, and Krissa Baseggio. son Ted Baseggio and wife Rhonda of Gordon NE, grandchildren Kaleb Nixon, Clayton and Taryn Brown, and Jordan Baseggio, son Todd Baseggio and wife Vicki of Atwood, CO, grandchildren Brock and Caitlin Baseggio, Eric and Aubree Ross, Blake and Christine Baseggio, daughter Theresa Osborn and husband Jerry of Clarkston, MI, grandchildren Luke Osborn and Nate Osborn and son Ty Baseggio and wife Amy of Atwood, CO, grandchidlren Drew Baseggio and Sydney Baseggio, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Donald and wife Donna Mae Neises of Oldham, SD, Duane and wife Mary Neises of Louisville, KY, Dennis and wife Pat Neises of Flandreau, SD, Sister Marlene Neises S.S.S.F. of Milwaukee, Wi, Carol and husband Roger Schnabel of Mitchell, SD,.and Aunt Silvina Maurice of Sioux Falls, SD, also many nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Always taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Whether it was driving a silage truck, moving tubes, bringing breakfast to the field or a hot casserole for lunch Virginia had it covered. The candy bowl was full of candy and the freezer was full of popsicles. For Virginia family always came first, they were always on her mind and in her heart, birthday cards, holidays, a phone call to say "hi" and chat. She enjoyed the times when her family was able to gather together from the planning to the delegating to the cooking and cleaning she was always there. Virginia was a hardworking, efficient, practical role-model that will always be admired for her caring spirit and hardworking nature. As Mom would say "Therefore, my family was my life"........... She was preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws Victor and Mary Baseggio.
