Virginia Dolores PerezOxnard, CAIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Our sweet mother passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017. Some might say it was as if she chose this date to join her one and only true love, our father, Manuel, who preceded her in death and who was laid to rest on October 14, 2017.Our mom was born on November 21, 1928 in Oxnard. A true Oxnard native. Mom grew up in a part of Oxnard known as El Rio or Little Jerusalem. Mom met the love of her life as a teenager through mutual friends or their "gang" as they referred to themselves. Our parents were married in November 1949 and would have celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage in November. For them Oxnard was their home. Mom spent her time as a homemaker raising her three children, Amanda, Phillip and Steven. Mom enjoyed working for General Telephone Company now known as Verizon. Mom worked with GTE for almost twenty-five years until her retirement. After her retirement, she decided to go back to school to further education. She completed two years of junior college acquiring an Associate of Arts Degree. Mom loved the company of her family and friends. To visit with her was to reminisce about times gone by. Mom was always ready to care for her grandchildren, as my husband and I pursued our careers. She was a perfect grandmother to our daughter Andrea, and to our son, Anthony. My husband and I never had to worry about them as we knew they were in the best of hands. Mom and dad traveled extensively around the world cruising to many ports- a- call. They would return home to share their adventures with us. Mom created scrap books of the countries they had seen and the people they had met. Words escape us as to how much we will miss our mother. She will never be forgotten, always in our hearts by her daughter Amanda (Tony) San Miguel, son Phillip (Rene) Perez, and Steven (Michele) Perez. Mom leaves behind her six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Our family wishes to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to her physician and nephew, Dr. Richard Figueroa, who was at her bedside at the time of her passing; and to the caring staff of St. John's Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care they gave our mother. Services are as follows: Visitation, Thursday, October 26, 2017, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard.
