Pommerening, Virginia LeaVirginia Lea (Jones) Pommerening, age 86 of Oshkosh, WI passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2017. Virginia was born on May 3, 1931 to Wayne and Ruby (Richardson) Jones in Appleton, WI. She graduated from High School in Oshkosh where she met the love of her life, Arthur Edward Pommerening. On January 8, 1952 they were married, and together they brought five children into this world; Victoria Lynn, Arthur Edward III, Jenifer Sue, Christopher Scott, and Elizabeth Jane. Art was enlisted in the Air Force and they moved to Dover, DE. Over the next decade they would move between Oshkosh and Michigan were they resided in Plymouth from 1965 until 1972. In 1972 they moved back to Oshkosh to live at their little lake house, that they built, until they moved down the road to their current beautiful lake property in 1982. Virginia, "Gin" as she was often fondly called, worked hard beside her husband Art while opening multiple new-car dealerships, plus many other business endeavors. Virginia was a very talented lady in many ways, she enjoyed sketching, painting, sewing, gardening, and early years; acting in community plays. She would sew clothes for her children when they were young and have would have fun making their Halloween costumes. She continued that creativeness with her grandchildren as well. Virginia had a vegetable garden and always saw to it her family ate healthy. Her favorite treats that everyone looked forward to were her rhubarb pineapple custard pie and her lemon poppy seed cake. Virginia was also a very independent woman, working as a Mary Kay consultant, and for many years at Pranges, Jeffery's Clothing, and lastly at J.C. Penneys. She was always fashionable, and loved to help other ladies shine too. Gin and Art were fortunate to have taken many wonderful trips together, including Hawaii, Spain, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, plus many U.S. destinations. They had fun. Virginia had a smile that was heartwarming, she touched many lives. She will be forever in the hearts of many, and be the guardian angel to her dear family. Virginia will be sadly missed by her husband Art of 65 years, her children Vickie Schasny (Dan Arnold), Jeni (Kyle) Bartsch, Chris (Pam) Pommerening, Betsey (Rob) Talbot. Her grandchildren, Eben (Mary) Johnson, Travis (Melanie Butterfield) Pommerening, Brigette Pommerening, Alex Bartsch, Vanessa Raasch, and Calvin Raasch, and many furry grandkids. Also by her great grandchildren, Abby and Emily Johnson, Vianna and Summer Raasch, and Piper Pommerening. Her siblings, Barbara (Douglas) VonHoff, Sally Merten, Nancy (Luke) Roland, Gary Jones, and David (Lynette) Jones. And by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Artie, her sister Susie Steiner, and her brother Robin Jones. A visitation will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, Lake Pointe Drive on June 8 at 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A Funeral service will be also at the funeral home on June 9 at 11:00am with an hour of visitation prior. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Cemetery. A special thank you goes out to her many special caregivers in the last year. Memorials can be in honor of Virginia to the Oshkosh Humane Association.
